W1Curates
Welcome W1Curates!
This is my application to collaborate with you in your amazing digital windows on Oxford Street. I believe the time is right for the breathtaking interior of the Patagonian glaciers to inspire us all in central London. Here’s a little info about them. Hopefully you’ll agree that they would have incredible impact in your space.

On the 50th anniversary of Earth Day I want to bring my glaciers to London
Earth Day is April 22nd 2020 - ushering in a year of demand for Climate Action.

Did you know that glaciers are one of the most sensitive indicators of climate change?
They are affected by increased rain, average temperature, and cloud cover.

Glaciers cover about 10% of the earth’s land surface
but this is gradually declining.

From a distance, a glacier can look like slightly jagged ground..
a bit crunchy maybe, but ok to cross.

But when you get up close it’s a completely different story
The scale suddenly comes into focus and you’re engulfed by a world made of slippery ice.

You can hear the trickle of water melting from the ice
..and the occasional loud crack.

Getting so close
it’s impossible to grasp how ancient they really are.

There’s beauty in the bits that are missing…

…and in looking at things from different angles

I just had to preserve every little corner I could.

The blue of the ice gets darker as you look deeper,
and it’s blue for a couple of reasons:

First, almost all large bodies of water look blue
because water molecules absorb the other colours more efficiently and reflect the blues back

Second, because air in the ice gets squeezed out by pressure over time
This means the darker the ice, the older it is - which makes you wonder, should we even be seeing it?

Does your stomach lurch a little at the thought of slipping in?
Here are some examples of how it could work…
With the transformative power of technology and the scale of W1Curates, let’s create impact that few Londoners would ever be able to experience otherwise.
